A nurse in Cuyahoga County received a two year probation sentence as well as the revocation of her nursing license for the submerging a boy in her care in ice cold water. While Geneva Mabrey was initially charged with felonious assault, she was found guilty of child endangering by Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Michael Russo.
Ms. Mabrey received the sentence after Judge Russo determined that she had submerged a 5 year old boy in ice cold water while the boy was in her care. The boy suffered from mental illness. When paramedics arrived on the scene, the boys body temperature was 85 degrees. The boy has made a full recovery and is now living with his grandmother.
